Upstate New York Town Going To Court To Block Heavy Metal Concert

September 19, 2012

According to PostStar.com, a small town in upstate New York is planning to file a lawsuit tomorrow (Thursday, September 20) seeking an injunction to prevent a planned heavy metal music festival from going ahead this weekend.

The event, dubbed RedNeck Hellfest III, was originally scheduled to be held at West Mountain Ski Center in Queensbury, New York, but has since been moved to McGinny's Tavern in Glens Falls, Albany-area concert promoters Upstate Metal Mafia wrote on their Facebook page.

"We did receive something in writing from the attorney for [Ski Center owner Mike] Barbone indicating that the event that had been advertised for this weekend has been canceled," Cathi Radner, a lawyer for Queensbury, told PostStar.com.

"We are still going to go forward and seek an order from the court to make sure that it does not become uncanceled."

The town is seeking the injunction because West Mountain did not obtain a special-use permit to conduct the festival.

Bands scheduled to perform at RedNeck Hellfest III include ACCUSATIONS OF THE INSANE, KILL ALL BETRAYERS, SEVEN YEAR SILENCE and RENEWAL OF FAITH.
